I first got into rally driving at the age of 13, because my dad competed at a national/clubman level. I started off helping out the team of mechanics that worked for my dad and gradually became more and more interested in the sport. My first experience driving was in a Mk2 Escort at Higgins’ rally school in Mid Wales, where I received tuition from Tony Higgins. It was clear from early on that I had a natural ability to drive so we wrote to various rallying associations to see which countries would allow me to compete at such a young age..

In 2007 I entered the Latvian Rally Sprint Championship in an MGZR Group N specification rally car; I was limited to taking part in four rounds of this championship as I was also in the middle of my GCSEs, which were another priority.

In 2008 I upgraded to the Latvian National Rally Championship and competed in a Fiesta ST (built by M-Sport). The aim of this year was to gain my International Latvian license and to do so I had to successfully complete six rounds of the championship. At the end of 2008 I became the youngest ever competitor to take part in Wales Rally GB – after passing my test just 5 days before – and went on to win my class by 15 minutes.

In 2009 I wanted to gain some International experience, so took part in Rally Latvia and Rally of Scotland where I had a class win as well as a number of fastest stage times on both events, finishing eighth overall in the championship. I also competed in three WRC events where I got the opportunity to compete against well-known driver, Craig Breen.

In 2010 I decided to return to the IRC and took part in the iconic Rallye Automobile Monte Carlo in the Fiesta ST, before beginning a campaign in the ex-Alister McRae Proton Satria Neo Super2000 rally car, alongside the Proton Motorsports works team, with available advice from both Chris Atkinson and Alister McRae.

In 2011 I competed in the BTRDA and became the Production Cup Champion as well as winning the BTRDA Junior Driver award. I also decided to contest the opening round of the BRC; Rallye Sunseeker in a JRM Mitsubishi Evo 10, where I claimed second overall. I then went on to take part in three more rounds of the BRC. I finished the 2011 season driving a Mitsubishi World Rally Car on the Cambrian Stages and finished the event second overall.

In 2012 I decided to compete in the full British Rally Championship, taking part in every round and starting off on Rallye Sunseeker in a Fiesta R2 and continuing the rest of the championship in a Citroen DS3 R3. I went on to win the Bulldog International Rally of Wales and the International Rally of Yorkshire, finishing second overall in the BRC and first in the Citroen Junior Trophy. I finished every round of the BRC and won the Pirelli Star Driver award for my driving on the Bulldog. Alongside the BRC I took part in several other events including Mid Wales Stages and the Bill Gwynne Coracle Stages, both of which I won overall.

This year I was also given the opportunity to drive for the Proton Works Team on two occasions; the first being the International Rally of Thailand where I competed in a Proton Satria Neo S2000 and won the event outright. The second was Wales Rally GB alongside works driver PG Andersson, where I finished second in the SWRC class behind Craig Breen and 14th overall.

My plan for 2013 is to contest the BRC once again and win it outright. I will be taking part in the Pirelli Star Driver shoot out in the hope of having my 2013 rally season funded by Pirelli in a Citroen DS3 R3. I am also hoping to continue to work with Proton in the hope of being offered more opportunities to drive as part of a works team.
